Belmond Hotels began in 1976 when they received the keys to the stunning Hotel Cipriani in Venice. In 1977 Belmond Hotels started collecting the train cars for the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, which brought a new sense of luxury and entertainment to Europe's train network. In April 2019, Belmond joined LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, further underlining the hospitality group as an international leader in luxury.
