Hyatt was founded in 1957 by Jay Pritzker when he acquired the Hyatt House motel next to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over the next decade, Jay and his brother Donald grew the company extensively in North America and took Hyatt public in 1962. Today the Hyatt Hotels Corporation comprises over 22 brands, from the intimate Alila Hotels to the large resort concepts of Dreams and Secrets; the Hyatt brand has options across all budgets and regions.
