Just south of San Francisco, set on a rocky cliff overlooking the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean, sits the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, a luxury hotel that more than lives up to its lofty brand name. This large property is draped with a blanket of green that creates an idyllic contrast with the open water and shoreline. It should be no surprise that this is a desirable wedding venue for an upscale black-tie event and a popular getaway spot.
Activities & Dining at Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay
Amongst its many attractions, the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay is home to two golf courses, The Ocean Course and The Old Course. Both courses are par 72 and offer challenging holes amidst breathtaking ocean views. On top of that, there are also six tennis courts and instructors available. Equipment rental is included in the resort fee, so guests need not pack the extra gear to stay active on their trip. There are also a number of hiking trails and paths down to the beach below for those interested in an outing that only Northern California can provide. Guests can also stay in for the day and enjoy the fitness center or treat themselves to one of many treatments available at the on-site spa.
Between activities, there are a number of places to dine on-site. The hotel offers three dining experiences: The Navio, The Conservatory, and The Ocean Terrace. For fresh, sophisticated seafood overlooking a gorgeous seascape, The Navio is the perfect spot. The Conservatory is a slightly more casual restaurant offering California cuisine and an impressive cocktail menu. The Ocean Terrace is, as you might expect, an outdoor dining option best suited for sipping wine and enjoying a light bite to eat.
Accommodations at Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay
Like many luxury hotels, this one has a selection of rooms and suites of various sizes. The grandest is the Ritz Carlton Suite, a 2,000-square-foot suite with two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. There are views of the ocean and the gold course from various rooms and a beautifully designed kitchenette and living room area. For a slightly different experience, guests can opt for a room or suite in the Guest House, a set of separate accommodations on the larger property (and not far from the rest of the hotel!). Many rooms have a fireplace and/or personal fire pit to ensure a cozy night along the coast.
