They Really Care About Their Guests: A Short Story

We once had a client taking their honeymoon at a resort in the Caribbean, which we were not big fans of. We warned the client about the property, but they were convinced it was their dream destination, so, of course, we booked it for them. Right before they boarded their plane, a volcano erupted near their resort, meaning the property would be covered in ash. The property refused to give them a refund (we eventually got our clients a refund, but it was quite the battle). The trip seemed doomed. They wanted to continue trying other locations with the same hotel chain, but all were unaccommodating, to say the least. We called Nizuc and shared the couple's story. Nizuc quickly got them booked while staying on budget, this was a major upgrade since their original destination was an all-inclusive resort, and assured us they would go above and beyond for our clients to help them transition into a state of relaxation. Nizuc's general manager shared his plan, and it made us excited. We breathed a sigh of relief, knowing the honeymooners would finally be in good hands.

Upon arriving at Nizuc, our clients were shown their room. The hotel had given them a complimentary upgrade to the presidential suite. They called in tears (happy tears) and were utterly shocked. The property continued to add small touches of romantic surprises. The trip was saved.

Perhaps what we love the most about this property is that it's easy to get to and consistently excellent. Stepping into Nizuc puts you at ease; it feels like home, and for people who travel nearly half of the year, that is something we appreciate immensely. The price points go as low as $600 a night (less for our clients); when compared to other luxury resorts in the area, that's a steal. Belmond Maroma, another ultra-luxury property in Riviera Maya, has starting prices around $1,800 a night. We love Belmond, but for those just stepping into the world of luxury, or who don't want to take a 40-minute car ride from the airport, Nizuc is our preferred recommendation. Word to wise: prices are increasing. Just last year, you could snag a regular room for around $400 a night, so more people are catching on. For now, it is still somewhat of a hidden gem.
