Overview

Located on the Grand Canal, Aman Venice is a luxurious Forbes Four-Star hotel with a distinguished past. Built by the Coccina family in the mid-16th century, the palazzo has since been passed down through various hands - including that of the Arrivabene family, who have resided on the top floor for two centuries.

The name 'Aman' is derived from eight languages and stands for "peace," "safety," or "shelter" - all aptly applicable to this magnificent property. With its water-facing garden, it truly lives up to its promise of peace and calm. It even caught the attention of Hollywood power couple George and Amal Clooney, who celebrated their wedding reception here in 2014. Aman Venice is an enchanting place that refreshes visitors with beauty and tranquility amidst all the hustle and bustle of the city's usual pace.

Guests of the Aman Venice experience a unique stay within one of Unesco-protected Venice's grand palazzos, built in the 16th century. Visitors arrive by boat, docking at a private landing that leads directly into the Palazzo's Reception Hall. From here, a sweeping staircase rises through two levels to the piano nobile - the grandest floor of any palazzo. The vestibule leads to an elegant lounge which was once home to the ballroom and boasts a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal.

The Yellow Dining Room features awe-inspiring views of the Canal while its ceiling is adorned with a painting by Cesare Rotta. Bar overlooks both the Canal Garden and sunset while offering drinks and small bites; guests also have access to private dining rooms as well as alfresco options in the garden.

On level four lies Salon with views of the Grand Canal, Stanza del Tiepolo (the games room), Stanza del Guarana (the meeting room), library boasting antique books from Count Arrivabene's collection, a serene spa, a small gym and roof terrace for stunning vistas.

Each of Aman Venice's 24 guestrooms and suites feature distinct architectural elements, including frescos painted by masterpieces such as Tiepolo and Sansovino, alongside contemporary furniture and furnishings evocative of the palazzo's history. All rooms flaunt views over Grand Canal for the ultimate luxury staycation experience in Venice!

Highlights

Located on the Grand Canal, Aman Venice offers a luxurious oasis of 2,800 square feet of manicured lawns and lush gardens. With only 24 rooms, the boutique hotel gives guests the feeling of being in a home rather than a hotel.

At Restaurant Arva, you can savor creative dishes based on local seasonal ingredients, such as handmade chestnut-flour pasta, filet of venison, and roasted eel. The land entrance to Aman Venice is set back from the street behind a heavy iron gate, providing a tranquil seclusion for guests.

For ultimate relaxation and pampering, visit Aman Venice's spa mezzanine level for a signature foot massage. The massage begins with exfoliation using Himalayan salt, followed by an invigorating massage with peppermint and arnica oils topped off with a hot-towel wrap.

Things to Know

Aman Venice is steeped with history, and the things to know are extraordinary. Come dinnertime, don't miss out on securing one of the most requested seats – the window-facing Grand Canal in the ballroom. Be sure to book your table in advance! The entrance hall also holds a preserved lamp from a Venetian ship that took part in the historic naval Battle of Lepanto in 1571.

The small, high-ceilinged library is home to wooden cabinets containing books that have been part of the Arrivabene family for generations, plus a selection of contemporary titles for you to browse through. To get there, arrive by boat or use the hotel's hidden entrance for added discretion. When you're ready to check in, you won't even see a reception desk – they'll come straight up to your room to get you settled in.

Accommodations

Staying at the Aman Venice is like being welcomed into a luxurious home. From creamy and pale gray tones to opulent touches like a heavy tassel made of black beads serving as the do not disturb sign and 16th-century architect Sansovino and 18th-century painter Tiepolo's works hanging in the accommodations, everything speaks to a special level of elegance. The bathrooms are inviting, with deep soaking bathtubs and double sinks, accompanied by toiletries made from herbs and flowers from the Giudecca island women's prison garden. Every bedroom boasts a relaxing corner sitting area with soft chairs and fresh flowers on the table. Every room number is crafted in gold on smooth dark stone flooring that preserves the original wood while also adding to the homey feeling throughout.

Palazzo Bedroom offers garden views and unique designs and layouts, perfect for those looking for a special stay in Venice. The Palazzo Chamber Affresco features frescoed ceilings and wonderful views of a private garden. The Palazzo Chamber Luminoso boasts stunning views of the Canal garden and a partial view of the Grand Canal; its south-facing orientation allows guests to take in the renowned Venetian light.

Palazzo Stanza Canal Grande provides spectacular canal views that include magnificent architectural details. Maddalena Stanza Canal Grande has grand canal views, along with sumptuous decor featuring a Murano chandelier. Papadopoli's Stanza Canal Grande also includes grand canal views, as well as frescoed ceilings in both the bedroom and bathroom.

The Sansovino Room offers sumptuous historic decoration, including a 16th-century fireplace by Sansovino and a partial view of the Grand Canal. The splendid Grand Canal Suite offers original features such as a fireplace, gilt mirror, wooden doors, and a fan window with a magnificent eye-level Grand Canal view. Last but not least is the Alcova Tiepolo Suite which features Tiepolo frescoes, gilded ceilings, and a fireplace, along with a separate hand-painted Chinese sitting room that enjoys a partial view of the Grand Canal

Aesthetic

The Aman Venice design is a beautiful balance of baroque opulence and minimalist simplicity. Throughout the hotel, guests can find extravagant rococo art and glimmering gold accents paired with neutral tones of gray and cream, creating a luxuriously understated atmosphere. Handcrafted wooden details from 18th-century artist Andrea Brustolon can be found throughout the hotel, like the three elaborate credenzas in the open sitting room on the third floor. The former private chapel has been converted to a salon on the fourth floor but still retains its original 18th-century altar and painted altarpiece - where Count Arrivabene was baptized when it belonged to his family.

Dining

Paying tribute to Italy's incredible culinary heritage, Arva at Aman Venice is helmed by Executive Chef Dario Ossola. Situated on the first noble floor of the Venetian Palazzo, Arva celebrates the shared joy of uncomplicated flavors in a friendly and inviting atmosphere. For a truly unique experience, partake in the 'Cook the Lagoon' private cooking class. Visit Rialto Market to pick out the freshest ingredients before you return to the Palazzo Kitchen and learn how to make traditional Venetian recipes - all before sitting down for lunch together! Aman Venice boasts its own beautiful gardens with views of the Grand Canal that take your breath away – perfect for an alfresco meal inspired by daily trips to the local market. The Bar at Aman Venice offers guests a special British touch as a tribute to Lord Byron, boasting an extensive selection of gin found nowhere else in town.
